Lever/Lever
A lever is a rigid bar that pivots around a central point (known as a Fulcrum). When you apply force to the end, the fulcrum is likely to move in the direction of the force is applied. This motion increases the applied force and allows you to lift or move something that would require a greater amount of force if you were to apply directly to the load.
The distance between the fulcrum of the lever and the point where you apply force determines the maximum movement. This is referred to as the mechanical advantage. The advantage in mechanical terms increases as the lever is extended. You can calculate the advantage by dividing the distance from the fulcrum to the point where you are applying the force by the distance between the fulcrum and the end of the lever.
Levers can also have a variety of effects based on the way in which forces are applied. A lever in class 2, for example, has a tendency of turning in the opposite direction when an force of the effort is applied. If you push on the door handle, the forces will produce the same rotational effects as this.
However, levers don't create energy. They simply multiply the force you exert by converting a small amount of effort applied over a long distance into a larger amount of force applied over a smaller distance. This allows you to accomplish more in a shorter period of time, which is the reason why levers are frequently employed to lift heavy objects or moving large quantities of cargo. The lever principle is used in everyday tools like crowbars. Hammer claws fishing rods, hammer claws, and your own legs, when you stand on the hand brake of your car.
